Karen Senko, Encore Educator
Karen is currently living in New York City. She holds a B.A. from Stanford
University with majors in Drama and Psychology and a Pilates certification from
the Kane School of Core Integration. Her love for movement arts has motivated
her to study with many dance educators including Christine Wright, Lisa Burnett
and Aaron Osborn. Karen's classes encompass a strong, technical integration of
Ballet, Jazz and Modern. Each class emphasizes how movement through lines
creates its own language, through which each student can speak. Working through
this type of curriculum, students learn to speak through movement, understand
how to correct themselves and never loose their 'organic' sense of movement.
Students then become beautiful, thinking dancers. I train people who dance
and not ballerinas, jazz dancers or modern dancers, because in the future these
are the skills dancers will need as the lines of dance styles begin to blur,
Karen Senko. In addition to teaching at Encore Karen owns and operates a private
movement program, working in a one- on-one environment with adult and teenage
clients in Pilates, emphasizing movement integrity, and core strength.
