Homeschool Prom National and International listing for homeschool highschool proms and formal dances. Homeschool Prom and Formal Dances All 50 United States
 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001 and 2000

All Homeschool Proms, from any State are welcome to link off of this site.* See below for your state.

Photos are on the website. We hope you enjoy them.

The idea of having homeschool proms from all different US states have a central prom website for prom information was born of the idea of providing a service to all of us, and it is still an excellent idea on how to get the homeschool prom information out to every homeschooler. An interesting thing has happened from providing this location for all of the homeschool proms, - it is so much fun to read how homeschoolers across the country have responded to the prom issue. Read the information from the various states yourself, there is a wealth of ideas for how to make your homeschool prom even better! Homeschool proms may also post links to their websites and photo pages, just email us the link.

If you tried to look at the photos earlier you may need to press 'refresh' on your computer.

Remember you can always get back to the official Homeschool Prom page with: www.homeschoolprom.com or homeschoolprom.com

Click on the Prom of your choice:

*Other Homeschool Proms may submit their listing with Web site address, and/or contact information such as email address or phone numbers of contact people. We will post it on a new National (International) homeschool prom resource page. We are doing this because we realize we have www.homeschoolprom.com and we believe it will be better for all of us to list this information on our site as a service to all homeschool teens.
So send your info to homeschoolprom@ourwebpage.org
Here are the ones we have so far:

Alabama Homeschool Prom & Formal Dance 2005 Alaska Homeschool Prom & Formal Dance 2005 Arizona Homeschool Prom & Formal Dance 2005
Hi, I am in Alaska and have just begun to make preparations for a homeschool prom in 2005. Any input, advice, encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

For the last three years I have had the privilage of hosting "monthly homeschool teen events" for 7th graders and up. This event has grown from 21 in attendance to 45 teens. Sixth graders eagerly look forward to joining the ranks of "teens" to attend these events. Working with the teens has blessed me in so many ways, chiefly by really learning to see the kids and what they are about and by the special friendships developed with other likeminded families.

I think it is time to honor their request for a formal prom. So, let the adventure begin!!!

Blessings,
Eileen Gravelle

2005 HIGH SCHOOL PROM

Saturday, May 14, 7 p.m. 12 midnight

The Signature Grand

 6900 State Road 84 Davie

(South side of I-595, just east of University Dr. on SR 84)

There’s still time to buy tickets for this year’s exquisite South Florida Senior celebration, which will be held at the exclusive Signature Grand(www.thesignaturegrand.com) on May 14, 2005, from 7:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight.  This year’s prodigious prom brings us “The Phantom of the Opera”, a simply titillating affair.  On behalf of the Paris Grand Opera House, the Opera Populaire, you are cordially invited to attend this elegant 1890’s Parisian masquerade party as a most honored opera guest.  Having been identified as a member of the Paris elite, you are entreated to spend an entire evening in unsurpassed opulence, commencing with hor d’oeuvres, a sumptuous buffet meal, delectable desserts, an overflowing soda bar, scrumptious non-alcoholic pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris, a phenomenal Christian DJ, and much, much more!  The price for this ostentatiously stylish soiree is $55.  But be forewarned...the deadline to guarantee admission to this highly fashionable engagement is May 3rd.

                                                  OG

All Florida homeschoolers and their guests, including homeschool alumni, are invited to attend .

Prom Dress Policy:  Dress for the evening is formal. GENTLEMEN:  Dress suits or tuxedos or sports coats with dress slacks are all appropriate.  All should be worn with a dress shirt and tie, and dress shoes.  LADIES:  Modest, non-provocative, non-revealing formal dresses with no extreme slits or short hemlines. No skintight or see-through dresses, no cutouts in dresses, and no slits above the knees. Necklines need to be tasteful with no cleavage showing.  Dresses should be knee length or below.  If your attire is questionable, please err on the side of being "too modest" because defining a standard that everyone agrees on is impossible.  Also, remember, swing dancing and other more energetic types of dancing involve a lot of movement including dips and high kicks. Your evening gown should be able to accommodate this activity. (Don’t feel as though you have to drain your bank account to look good for the prom!  Thrift stores and consignment shops can be excellent places to find great looking suits, sports coats and pants, as well as attractive evening gowns.  It’s worth checking them out!)

Behavior Policy:  PSG Board members and prom hosts reserve the right to ask anyone attending a PSG sponsored activity to leave that activity if their attire, behavior and/or speech is deemed inappropriate, based on the judgment of the PSG Board members or hosts present at that activity. Parents will be called if need be to pick up their youth. If a student has driven themselves to the event, they will be asked to leave. Parents will be notified of the inappropriate behavior.

Music Policy: Music will be limited to Christian and other non-offensive secular music.

To purchase tickets or for more information about the prom, please email psgteenhotline@yahoo.com. Checks should be made out to the Broward County Homeschool PSG” and mailed c/o:  Jo Anne Cassidy, 5401 S.W. 164 Terrace, S.W. Ranches, FL 33331

Questions:

I have looked through your websites about the proms that you have put on your website.  There was some additional information that I would be interested in.
I live in Illinois and our homeschooling community has never had a prom.  My young people in my family are serious about planning one.  I would like more information about insurance, why you decided to have your's at the location you did (was it for insurance purposes, etc.), do I need to contact an attorney or go under any homeschool group or such group and what did you do with the funds:  is it rolled over if there is extra, what happens if it is not enough, etc.?  Did the homeschool student's do fund raisers?  How was this money handled and recorded to keep that legal?  Was security required?  Did you hire off-duty police?
I'm sure there are many more questions to ask especially when it comes to planning the prom itself but these questions answered above would be a great start in helping us.  They would be some of the most important aspects of our beginning this planning process.
I would appreciate any information that you would be willing to share.
Thank you for the information posted on your website.  It was very informative and helpful.  Also, thank you for your time and care.
Sincerely,

This prom is open to all homeschoolers. Homeschoolers may bring a guest/guests that are non-homeshoolers. This is an upscale event and well chaperoned. I am a Christian and I request that the DJ doesn't play any music with bad language and sexually suggestive lyrics. There are plenty of other great songs out there.

Each year we have our reigning prom king and queen draw out the name of the new prom king and queen. We do not want this to be a popularity contest. We feel each person attending prom, is unique, special, and deserves to hold the title.
(only homeschoolers are eligible for king and queen)

We also have fun awards that we give out every year. They include such awards as: Dress most likely to be seen at the Oscars, Two friends most likely to end up in a Mexican prison, prettiest smile, cutest couple, etc...

The kids vote on these and everyone is eligible to win them...;o)

Somewhere Over the Rainbow
5th Annual Homeschool Formal Prom
March 4, 2005, Payson, Utah

"Over the Rainbow" is the theme for the 5th Annual Homeschool Formal Prom! This formal dance is the big event of the year for homeschooled teens 14 years and up! Parents will enjoy attending too. As in previous years, this elegant dance will be held in the historic Peteetneet Academy in Payson. Wholesome music, lighting, modest dress, fun atmosphere, door prizes, dance contests and refreshments make this dance extra special! The dance will be held on Friday night, March 4th from 7:00 until 10:45 pm.

The evening will begin with circle dances and other no-partner needed dances, so everyone can get comfortable. This is a no date dance--enjoy dancing with and meeting lots of new friends during this special evening. Fill your dance card with lots of different names and win a prize!

The music will be high standards and fun, new and old: waltz, cha cha, polka, swing, mixers, line dances, fox trot, twist, stroll, etc. Dress in modest formal wear, or Sunday best. (P.S. A long skirt with a blouse is an economic alternative for a ball gown. D.I. has some great prom dresses too!) Plan a modest outfit that is not tight and includes sleeves (that cover the armpit), modest neckline and back, below the knee hemlines and slits.

Tickets may be purchased pre-sale for $10 each, with pre-sale family passes available for $35 (includes up to five immediate family members living under the same roof). (Tickets are $12 at the door.) Tickets are limited to 225 people and sell out every year, so you may want to purchase yours ahead. Purchase tickets presale in person at Books & Fun, 741 North State Road, Salem, Monday-Saturday, 9:30-5:30 pm. You may also purchase tickets online or by phone (801) 423-9158. If you would like earn free dance tickets, sign up to help on the Prom Committee--both parents and teens are most welcome! Contact Diane Hopkins.

Don't miss this once-a-year very special enchanted evening!

Prom is usually held in April or May. Homeschooling students in 9th grade and 14 year of age thru 12th grade and 18 years of age are invited.  Students are permitted to bring dates that are not homeschooled students. Ballroom dancing and swing dancing instructions are given that night by a past homeschool graduate. The students are engaged in ice breaker games and various awards are voted on by the students such as “most likely to have 10 kids”. A sit down dinner is also served. Various locations have hosted our prom such as Yesterdays of Ft. Lauderdale. Modest dress and Christ-like behavior is asked from each student attending.

Don't miss this once-a-year very special enchanted evening!

We have a sell out crowd, 225 people is what the building will hold and we always sell all the tickets. It is generally about equal boys and girls. Parents and teens both come, and that is fun. You don't have to have a parent there, but we have a few dances that are for mother/ son, dad/daughter, etc. The lyrics have been carefully scrutinized and the music is clean and wholesome. All types of music are included: oldies, new music, twist, polka, cha cha, Beach Boys, and tons more. The feeling in the prom is a good one--it is not dark and there is a wholesome fun type feeling. We always have fabulous decorations! This is a no-date dance and you get a dance card when you enter. You dance with as many different people as you can--like a race to meet new people-- and when you dance, you get the person to sign your dance card. As soon as it is full, you put your card in a basket and get a new card and there are drawings for prizes all through the evening, from that basket. Everyone dances alot and fills up several cards. It is a way for you to get to know the names of the people you are dancing with too. We have refreshments and dance games, where everyone on the floor gets in a line to dance, etc. So, it isn't a wallflower situation. The dress is very modest, and that makes a very good feeling. Everyone dresses up to the hilt--corsages, hairdos, formals, etc. which is a fun thing to look forward to. We take lots of photos in our family before leaving for the dance, and at the dance. It is a chance for a young woman to shine! Anyway, every year I get lots of letters after the Prom from teenagers telling me that it the best dance they have ever been to! Anyway, I hope you come and have a great time! See you there! Diane Hopkins

usually run around $15.00 per package. You may wish to order
several packages to get the desired amount of photos...:o)

Beach Photography has done a wonderful job for us in the past.
They post all the pictures on their website:

If you need to order extra pictures, or have relatives that want to
order pictures, they can be ordered directly from the website.
Beach Photography also takes candid shots during prom, and
those are posted on the website to view and purchase as well.

I encourage everyone to have their picture taken at prom. Not
only are they great keepsakes, but we are also a small group
and I want the photographer to feel it is worth his time to do
this for us each year...:o) I look forward to seeing you at prom.

After Prom: We are hoping to take a riverboat cruise on the Ohio River. We need 40 people prepaid to secure this cruise. Cost is $30.00 a person. The cruise includes a breakfast buffet.

Tickets for prom and after prom are available through Cheryl Reeder.

CherylsSchool@aol.com

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

This prom is open to all homeschoolers. Homeschoolers may bring a guest/guests that are non-homeshoolers. This is an upscale event and well chaperoned. I am a christian and I request that the DJ doesn't play any music with bad language and sexually suggestive lyrics. There are plenty of other great songs out there that the kids can enjoy.

Each year we have our reigning prom king and queen draw out the name of the new prom king and queen. We do not want this to be a popularity contest. We feel each person attending prom, is unique, special, and deserves to hold the title.
(only homeshoolers are eligible for king and queen)

We also have fun awards that we give out every year. They include such awards as: Dress most likely to be seen at the Oscars, Two friends most likely to end up in a Mexican prison, prettiest smile, cutest couple, etc...

The kids vote on these and everyone is eligible to win them...;o)

Take a left at the 3rd entrance go right and park in the parking lot, walk back towards the entrance and follow the path down the side of the church past the cemetery and behind the wall. Centennial Hall is towards the right around the wall.  There should be signs and plenty of kids, (middle school thru college and parents are always welcome to dance or to watch).  Admissions is $5 and bring a friend or two.
Others may be scheduled in the future check with Mrs. Palmer or Mrs. Rice whatsonsecond@stic.net.

Homeschool Senior/Junior Five Annual Prom will be held on
Friday, April 23rd at Fair Oaks Country Club.

This year’s Prom will be held again at Fair Oaks Country Club, take I10 North to Fair Oaks exit just before Boerne.  It is an exquisite site with majestic oak trees filled with white twinkling lights, which line the parking lot as you drive up it at night. The Ball Room is very spacious and seats at least two hundred and fifty. To enhance the evening we have half the room installed with a dance floor. The DJ is a Christian family who have a phenomenal sound and light system and play a wide variety of safe dance music. The food last year was superb, chocolate dipped strawberries, chili con queso & chips, sesame chicken, roast beef with a carving chef, a huge dessert table and much more. Also served are strawberry non-alcoholic Daiquiris.

The night is special as it is dedicated to Lord by a local homeshool pastor. He also shares with the seniors the new challenges they will face as they venture out in the world. A candle lighting ceremony is held to pass the flame from seniors to juniors. There are a few minutes of fun as we highlight each senior and one of their attributes with a certificate and graduation trinket. At the end of the evening each senior will receive a small memories scrapbook for those attending the Prom to record best wishes and fond sentiments of friendship. It is an exceptionally special night for all.

The cost this year will be $50 and any homeschool senior or junior will receive an invitation. If you know of any homeschool seniors or juniors, with parental permission,
that would like to attend please send their address to
Mrs. Rice - whatsonsecond@stic.net by the beginning of March.
